Sing Plymouth 2014

Thursday 12th of June saw the final performance of a massive singing project for Plymouth children and young people which began last September. Organised by Plymouth Music Education Hub in partnership with WREN Music, the project involved over 600 children and young people from 24 local Secondary, Primary and Special schools.  The Secondary students worked on composing and performing their own songs based on the theme of  ‘Hear The Rainbow’ which they then, as young music leaders, taught to large groups of Primary pupils.  All the young singers performed to a capacity audience at the Plymouth Pavilions. Paul Wilson, from WREN, who directed the event said “We were so proud of the way the gig came together and everyone lifted their eyes, raised their game and just sang so brilliantly”. Plymouth Music Education Hub is committed to promoting singing in Plymouth schools and this project ensured that many, many children were inspired to sing, most having their first experience of singing in a large group in a prestigious venue.
