Partners

Plymouth University

We are developing our existing partnerships with higher education establishments. At a local level, through collaborative conversations, Plymouth University has accessed PMEH opportunities for their students to gain hands-on experience working with children and young people (over 100) in a learning environment.  They have also provided outstanding workshop and performance opportunities for young musicians.

Plymouth Music Accord

We have worked with Plymouth Music Accord to secure funding for music lessons in three Secondary schools for young musicians, access to the Young Musicians Platform providing gifted and talented young people with their first professional engagement and subsidised tickets for children to attend professional orchestra and choral concerts.

Peninsula Arts

We continue to work with our partner schools and Plymouth University to provide an annual, city-wide A Level Composition Project with direct sponsorship of awards and prizes from Peninsula Arts and support from Note Dame RC Girls schools for staff and the final recital venue. This event took place in January 2013 and involved over 20 students. The resulting compositions were of a very high standard and all were highly commended by the judges. We ran this exciting project again in the historic Plymouth Citadel Chapel on January 30th with an 22 students.  The initial compositions, developed on the day, are very promising.  They bode well for the Realisation event which will take place at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Girls School on 21st March.

Notre Dame Roman Catholic Girls School

We continue to work with Notre Dame Roman Catholic Girls School to provide an annual, city-wide A level Composition project with direct sponsorship of awards and prizes from Peninsula Arts. Notre Dame School hosts the final recital for this excitiing event. Notre Dame is also the lead school for our ongoing Sing Plymouth event, now in its second year.

Lipson Cooperative Academy

Lipson is a college pulsating with excitement, energy and self-belief. We are a co-operative school whose learners, teachers and parents believe in a value driven education. Our teachers and students are innovative and confident, caring and socially responsible, happy and successful. When you join this forward thinking, vibrant and successful school you connect to the values of the international co-operative alliance:- social responsibility, equity, equality, solidarity, democracy, openness, honesty and caring for others. If you read carefully our last four Ofsted reports, three of which are graded as ‘outstanding’, you will see these values shining through. At Lipson you become part of a family, not just a school, where everyone is valued as an individual on the one hand but expected to make a worthwhile contribution to that of the family on the other.

Glyndebourne Productions Ltd

Formed in 1986, Glyndebourne Education’s remit has always been simple: to enhance the understanding and enjoyment of opera, whether for committed audience member or for opera sceptic. From creating work with schools and youth centres, developing learning resources, and arranging study events and pre-performance talks for audiences, to presenting large-scale community operas on the Glyndebourne stage, each of Glyndebourne Education’s initiatives has a clear aim – for as diverse a group of people as possible to connect with opera.

dBs (Deep Blue Sound)

In 1998, two men with a vision started what was to become dBs Music, with little more than a few rooms in the local Arts Centre. As demand for their unique brand of technical education grew, so did the facilities, eventually taking over a former probation office in the early 2000?s. After filling it to bursting point with top of the range IT facilities, industry standard recording and production suites and experienced tutors with a wealth of industry experience, dBs is now able to offer its brand of professionally focused education to more people, to help them build better futures.
