Cooperative Big Band

Cooperative Big Band

The Cooperative Big Band prides itself on being regarded as a very professional and democratic youth big band. The band is tutored by four professional musicians and consists of a mixture of students from Lipson Cooperative Academy and several schools across the region.

The Coop BB has an extensive repertoire of swing, pop, funk and soul music and can have as many as 30 members performing on some engagements. The line-up consists of a standard rhythm section, trumpets and trombones and a large saxophone section. The band have performed at many prestigious events including at the Theatre Royal and Plymouth Pavilions and they have gone on to win Best Regional Big Band in the Saltash Music Festival for 5 consecutive years.  The recent addition of CJ, a professional singer from the West End, has opened up a whole new repertoire and the ‘Buble Big Band sound’ is a real winner with players and audiences alike.

The Coop BB rehearses on every Tuesday evening at Lipson Cooperative Academy, Bernice Terrace, Plymouth, PL4 7PG from 6-7.30pm during term time and is absolutely free to join!

If you play Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Piano, Drums, Bass or Guitar, and you can read notation we would love to hear from you.
