Plymouth International Chorus

Since 2015, young people from Plymouth, UK and Plymouth, Massachusetts have joined together to sing with each other for an annual concert alternating between the UK and the USA in preparation for the Mayflower 400 commemorations.

This project has captured the hearts of staff, students and families alike, with lifelong friendships being made. Following the first concert held here in Plymouth in 2015, the hub’s youth choir, the Legacy Choir, was formed and they are now the lead UK choir for the project, joined by singers from local primary and secondary schools.

The pandemic caused a 2 year hiatus in the exchanges, although the choirs still managed to sing together using Zoom (see Sing to Bring Us Together video below).

Plymouth International A Capella

In July 2022, in a reduced exchange, 15 talented young singers aged between 14 and 17 from Plymouth Massachusetts came to Plymouth UK for a tour which included workshops with local singers and schools. There were also performances across the city, culminating in a final concert at Plympton Academy featuring Plymouth’s Youth Choir, The Legacy Choir and singers from the schools visited in a true celebration of the joy of singing.
